Sophie’s English Summer Dream at St Mary’s Wimbledon
At the beautiful St Mary’s Church Wimbledon, Sophie’s wedding unfolded as one of our standout 2025 moments, a celebration defined by English summer light, timeless romance, and modern couture craftsmanship.
A true spotlight bride, Sophie arrived in a custom couture ballgown that reimagined tradition through a contemporary lens. Inspired by classic lace, the design featured delicate, lightweight embellishment that shimmered softly as she moved, paired with a structured basque waist that sculpted the silhouette with quiet precision. The result was a gown that felt both regal and fresh, perfectly suited to a quintessential English church wedding.
As Sophie stepped through a gentle shower of petals, the dress came alive in motion. The intricate detailing caught the summer light with a subtle luminosity, echoing lace-inspired scalloped patterns that had been transformed into modern, iridescent texture. Every element was considered, every surface catching light in a different way, creating a sense of depth and softness as she moved.
Sophie’s presence completed the vision. Elegant and radiant, she quite literally shone in every detail, the ornate craftsmanship of her gown mirroring the delicacy of traditional lace while feeling entirely of the present.
Reflecting on her journey with the Isabell Kristensen team, Sophie shared how the experience transformed her expectations of the bridal process. After visiting “nearly every low to high end bridal store in London,” she admitted she was beginning to lose hope of finding designers who truly understood her vision of a princess ballgown.
Meeting Martin and the team, however, shifted everything:
“I was beginning to lose hope that no one out there understood my princess ballgown dreams! However, Martin and the team at Isabell Kristensen were not only welcoming and lovely, but had a talent for listening to my ideas and concerns whilst also injecting beautiful enthusiasm and creativity that I would never have been able to think of myself. We’ve not even started making the dress yet and it was honestly the most fun I’ve had so far in the wedding dress journey.”
From the earliest conversations, the process became a collaboration built on trust, imagination, and joy. Sophie described the experience as more inspiring than she ever expected at such an early stage, with every fabric and silhouette exploration reinforcing her excitement for what was to come.
Sophie at St Mary’s Wimbledon was the embodiment of an English summer bridal vision: romantic, refined, and unmistakably modern, brought to life through couture craftsmanship and a shared creative journey.
